🚨OPERATION SNAP BACK: New York SNAP fraud across New York City just got confronted head on. @USDA investigators went into all FIVE boroughs, conducting hundreds of undercover investigations into bodegas, convenience stores, and grocery stores suspected of abusing the program. The result: 170 retailers are now facing enforcement action for violations including trafficking SNAP benefits for cash and illegally accepting benefits for alcohol and other ineligible items. Several cases have also been referred for criminal investigation and prosecution. This is about protecting two groups of people: families who rely on SNAP to put food on the table — and the hardworking taxpayers who fund it. More progress in the fight against New World screwworm. Today, @TAHC released Infested Zone 10 counties — another key step in easing movement requirements and supporting Texas producers. After 100 days: ➡️ 3 active U.S. cases ➡️ 50 total U.S. cases For perspective: in 1972, Texas alone confirmed more than 90,000 screwworm cases in a single year. @USDA and @TAHC continue working together through robust surveillance, rapid response, and sterile fly releases to protect the American livestock industry. 📍 Santa Teresa, New Mexico Today I toured the busiest livestock port on the US-Mexico border and met directly with ranchers and key officials about the work that has gone into protecting the American livestock industry from New World screwworm, and next steps moving forward. For 16 months, livestock ports along our southern border have remained closed as we built out an unprecedented response, strengthened surveillance, and worked with our partners to stop the spread of this devastating pest. @USDA’s phased reopening strategy has been tied to continued progress and layered safeguards designed to protect the US herd. That execution is producing results. And today’s visit was about making sure we keep protecting American livestock as trade resumes safely. We took a moment to reflect that after 100 days, we have only 2 active cases in our country. To compare… in 1972 — our ranchers (in Texas alone) faced more than 90,000 NWS cases that year. Four generations of American agriculture at Sunnycrest Farms. 🍎🫐🇺🇸      Today in New Hampshire, I toured this amazing family-owned farm and sat down with Granite State producers to hear directly about the challenges they are facing.      Ongoing drought has made this growing season especially difficult. That is why @USDA recently approved a disaster designation for qualifying New Hampshire counties, including Rockingham County.      The designation opens access to low-interest emergency loans and immediate cash-flow relief for eligible producers as they recover.      From targeted disaster assistance to support for specialty crop growers, @POTUS and USDA are fighting to ensure family farms like Sunnycrest can continue feeding their communities for generations to come.
