Gleyo, Post Hackathon Update 🚀 It's been a few days since sharing Gleyo during the @ZecHub Hackathon. Since posting on July 14, Gleyo has reached 33 weekly active users, completing quests, earning shielded ZEC rewards, and testing nearly every part of the platform. Two things I shipped this week: Queued withdrawals. Withdrawals now process safely in sequence instead of one at a time platform-wide, essential for Gleyo to scale to more communities running simultaneously without overwhelming @NozyWallet. Multi-token off-ramp. Inspired by @zksquirrel, communities can now fund campaigns with USDT/USDC instead of ZEC upfront. Gleyo auto-settles it into shielded ZEC behind the scenes, lowering the barrier to get started without moving away from ZEC. My goal has never been just another community platform. I want @Zcash communities, Web3 projects, and even Web2 organizations to grow through better onboarding and retention, while making Zcash feel almost invisible to newcomers. People join, contribute, earn rewards, and experience private digital money, discovering Zcash's benefits by using it, not by studying it first. 𝐫𝐮𝐧𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚 𝐳𝐜𝐚𝐬𝐡 𝐧𝐨𝐝𝐞 𝐡𝐚𝐬 𝐛𝐞𝐞𝐧 𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐝𝐞𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐧 𝐢𝐭 𝐧𝐞𝐞𝐝𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐛𝐞. i've wanted to run one for ages. i've started the process more than once, only to give up for the same reasons: storage and how ridiculously long it took to sync. when @ZakuraZcash was released on Wednesday, i got so excited cos this meant i could finally run my own Zcash node on my laptop. Zakura is a new @Zcash full node built to remove a lot of that friction. if you're new here, a node is a program you install on your computer that connects directly to the a blockchain network. it verifies transactions, keeps an up-to-date copy of the blockchain, and helps keep the network secure. it's not been easy running a Zcash node. you had to download and store the blockchain's entire history, then wait days before your node was fully synced and ready to use. now Zakura lets you run a pruned node. a pruned node allows your computer to verify the blockchain without having to keep all the old data after it has been verified. it removes the parts it no longer needs and keeps only what's necessary to continue verifying new blocks. that's what brings the storage requirement down so dramatically. Zakura also provides a recent snapshot of the blockchain that's only about 11gb to download. instead of syncing everything from the very first block, you can start from that recent snapshot and only download what has happened since then. that makes getting started much faster and far less demanding on your computer. for someone with a 500gb laptop who's been wanting to run a node for a long time, that's a pretty big deal. but this goes beyond my laptop. the easier it is to run a node, the more people can participate in securing the network. that's a win for decentralization and makes the zcash network even stronger. credit to the teams at @ValarGroup and @TachyonZcash for making this possible. i'll definitely be spinning up a zakura node soon. i'll share my experience here.

I spent over 3 hours exploring the @ZecHub Hackathon submissions, and I must say, the level of innovation on display was impressive. There were 35 submissions across 5 tracks: Infrastructure, Games, FROST, Zcash Login, and Accounting. After analyzing several projects and testing a number of demos, I found it incredibly difficult to make a choice because the quality of submissions was consistently high across the board. That said, here are a few projects that particularly stood out to me: 1. Gleyo, submitted by Gilmore (Infrastructure) Gleyo is a Zcash-native quest and community growth platform that allows projects to fund community wallets in ZEC, publish quests, reward contributors directly with shielded ZEC, run community chats, and measure retention from a single platform. What makes Gleyo exciting is its potential to drive adoption and traction for the Zcash ecosystem. By giving communities a simple way to onboard contributors, incentivize participation, and distribute rewards using shielded transactions, Gleyo creates more opportunities for users to interact with ZEC in real-world scenarios. It could become a powerful engine for ecosystem growth, community building, and long-term user retention. 2. ZBounty, submitted by Jay-cey (Accounting) ZBounty is a privacy-focused bounty platform for individuals and open-source communities. Users can create tasks and reward contributors through fully shielded z-to-z transactions while benefiting from a gamified Privacy Score that encourages stronger privacy practices. What I particularly like is its accessibility. Anyone, anywhere can create a bounty on Zcash. This opens the door for developers, creators, researchers, and communities around the world to coordinate work and rewards while preserving financial privacy. 3. ZPayroll, submitted by Monsignore (Accounting) ZPayroll is a private payroll application designed for salary distribution through Zcash. It executes payroll runs using Orchard shielded transactions, supports Unified Addresses, and leverages deterministic wallet generation for employers. This is one of those projects that addresses a practical business need. Privacy-preserving payroll could be a compelling use case for organizations that value confidentiality while leveraging Zcash's shielded transaction capabilities. 4. Zaygent, submitted by Joshua Onazi (Infrastructure) Zaygent is a privacy-first autonomous crypto trading agent that funds, trades, and settles through Zcash shielded transactions while using NEAR Intents for cross-chain settlement. The combination of AI-driven automation, privacy, and interoperability is particularly interesting. It demonstrates how Zcash can extend beyond payments and become part of broader autonomous financial systems. 5. PedalShield, submitted by Intelligrip (Games) PedalShield rewards real bicycle rides with shielded ZEC while keeping route data entirely on the rider's device. The project combines privacy-preserving design with real-world activity incentives and autonomous Orchard payouts. I found this concept especially creative because it transforms healthy everyday activity into a rewarding experience while staying true to Zcash's privacy principles. My only question is whether the concept is limited to bicycle riding alone, or if it could eventually expand to other forms of physical activity. Other submissions such as ZecPass, ZEC-OS, and Authentication with ZcashMe are also impressive projects that showcase the growing diversity of innovation within the Zcash ecosystem. They serve as further evidence that builders are finding meaningful ways to extend the utility of Zcash beyond simple payments. Anyways, community voting ends in less than 7 days, so if you haven't explored the submissions yet, now is the perfect time to review the projects, discover what builders have been working on, and support the team whose vision resonates with you. @Zcash
