This week I had the pleasure of sharing the floor with Joshua Orr for The Onset’s Build / 01. When Tania Graham-Brown and I talked about this, we agreed everyone is tired of panels discussing the same thing. Designers in leadership roles should show proof of work.
I had the pleasure of showing the work of
@Lewishealey, Sheree Barratt, and many other folks working on Protobox, a collaborative prototyping environment where designers and see and contribute to prototypes across various tools.
My demo deviated from the use case but built on the same foundation: Personal software’s proximity of work.
At
@Atlassian, we believe the Teamwork Graph is the differentiator for companies, teams, and individuals.
As someone who works with dozens of local agents, the majority of my workflow is on the desktop. My solution? I built my own app in Swift. The goal is not going lone wolf, but a place where I can focus across my tools.
Using Teamwork Graph and Atlassian Design System, I made my own software, curating the way I work best. The app includes an attention system, my live Kanban board from Trello.
Another problem I was looking to solve is visibility of my local agent sessions. I shared how I built a clone of Command & Conquer, a beloved Real-Time Strategy game from my childhood. What felt like an unserious product gave me insight on what different agent architectures looked like and how I could apply it to work.
So I built it in my app; a personal workbench made just for me.
This allows me to collaborate faster with people because the proximity of work has more reach through the Teamwork Graph while giving me the focus I need.
Sydney, it’s always a pleasure to spend time with the wonderful designers here.
