Grok 4.5 is a field medic. Comes over, looks at the problem, patches you up just enough so that you're good to go.
Sol is the alternative medicine healer. It'll ask you a bunch of questions about your childhood trauma and try to fix everything at once.

I had an incredible opportunity last week.
Great scope, right up my alley. For a large enterprise based here in Australia.
Ultimately I had to turn it down. Why?
Cost. The available budget wasn't enough for me to believe that I could deliver the quality that the customer would expect.
I had two options. Undercook the outcome or take a hit and hope for future work.
Neither seemed viable to me. I don't want to deliver poor outcomes and I want a sustainable studio so ultimately I had to say no.
Right move?

I freaking love my job.
Currently building an agentic development platform for a business and working with Grok 4.5 to create micro interactions and refine the experience on the fly, this is a dream come true.

By January we’ll see frontier model releases daily. 4.8 was only a few weeks ago?
Slam Sol all day. Use 100% of my weekly budget on a $300 20x Pro Plan.
Slam Grok 4.5 all day. Use 10% of my weekly budget on a $60 Pro+ Plan.
Don't sleep on Grok for development.
Well this really blew up.

“turns out i didn't need xanax.
i needed access to prod.”
YES. this is what I’ve been banging on about. designers need to become builders. it’s the best.
user feedback used to stress me out.
people would complain about the same issues, over and over. design team would make recommendations, but they'd get lost into a backlog and were rarely implemented, then i'd get blamed for "not listening to users" when the same feedback kept coming back.
now, i get feedback and, if it's s small, i fix it the same day. no backlog. shipped in hours, or a couple of days depending on the next release.
users are happier.
i'm not stressed anymore.
turns out i didn't need xanax.
i needed access to prod.

A lot of enterprise business I am speaking to want to use AI but are locked into Copilot.
From what I can tell, there's nothing like Claude Desktop or Codex for clients that operate in the MS ecosystem. VS Code is far too technical.
Am I missing something?

I've had a hunch for a while now that as models get better, restrictive harnesses are probably needed less.
I spent some time this weekend trimming my harness with Fable 5 and here are the results in terms of the reduction. I haven't noticed a difference in performance, only a speed increase. 🤯
We truly are in the hard takeoff phase.

Bit salty there Grok? Funny way to refer to Fable 😂
They'll do the same as what they do with the Chinese EVs. Block US users from using them.
Would be wise to download open weights asap.
Anthropic is panicking over the release of Kimi K3. In fact, the entire U.S. AI frontier lab ecosystem is panicking right now.
When investors figure out that U.S. frontier labs have no viable long-term revenue model from paying retail customers (because China's models are both better and cheaper), the AI investment bubble will crash.

Cursor is insane value rn.
Use Grok 4.5 for everything but have Fable 5 do quick verification of plans and implemented effort.
Works a treat.
NEW: Grok 4.5 costs just $0.31 per Intelligence Index task — nearly 89% less than Claude Fable 5.
Ok. It's official now.
Cursor + Grok 4.5 & Composer is much better than Codex + Sol/Terra/Luna
We're definitely in the hard take-off timeline folks.
few weeks ago, Fable 5 was so advanced it needed the gov and had to be taken offline.
today, we have access to arguably better models for $20/month.
took what? six weeks?
Be careful with Sol people. Constantly expands scope when asked not to:
"You’re right. It took too long because I let a simple publish task turn into platform hardening."
"I then expanded the work into authenticated image delivery, accessibility changes and repeated review loops. That was unnecessary scope creep for this request."
Needs reigning in. Grok 4.5 working alongside Fable is much better imho.

I freakin love my job.
This new way of working feels tailor made to how my mind works. It's invigorating.
Xbox is closing studios, cutting costs and Microsoft might even sell it off.
Why? Lack of profit.
AAA games cost too much. There’s no return on investment.
Gamers might hate AI but, I’d argue if they want to keep playing games, they’re going to need it.

Kimi K3 feels like China just open-sourced a Fable-5 class model
Never seen an AI generate UI with this level of polish from a single prompt.
