I'm beginning to witness the true power of @bot and @NotionHQ. This is the "Mental Models" database. It automatically creates bite-sized ideas connected through all my knowledge sources (X bookmarks, books, lectures, meeting notes, etc.) Every morning, along with bookmarks I've saved, it emails me a mental model I can chew on for the day. This database is like the swiss army knife of knowledge work and I don't even have to touch it. More about each idea down below:

The case for making art – part 2. You make art because of the lives you'll touch – even if you only create it for yourself. Art carries a profound ripple effect to those that experience it. During my 1st abroad in China, I became friends with someone whom we didn't know would see again. It was the final few days before I'd leave Beijing. We were sitting together in front of a small pond at night reflecting on some of our last moments together, and I randomly pulled out my phone, opened Spotify, and asked: "Hey, per chance do you want to listen to some music?" It was a composition of mine, called "Stargaze." I thought, it could be fitting. After listening to it, eyes closed, my friend told me: "I've never experienced these emotions before. It's... transcendent. I will never forget this moment. Thank you." A few days later and final goodbyes said, I open the letter written by my friend at the terminal boarding my flight home. There my friend wrote, how they'd silently reflect upon life looking out at the night sky while listening to my music in earbuds. From that point on, I don't think I've ever looked at music the same way again. The words we write, the music we compose, the films we produce – they don't just have meaning. They have depth. They have weight. They have the very essence that can inspire the world. Let your ripple effect reach those to inspire.

The case for making art. You make art because you need to. An urge to express, offload, to put it out there. A feeling you so deeply feel – that to merely contain within you is not enough. Nowhere near enough. So you grab the medium most natural for you. And after you paint the first stroke, you experience a wave of catharsis. You suddenly see the world in all its vivid colors. Where was this all along? As artists, this feeling we seek continues with us. When we drift too far from it, we feel pulled back. We are born in a world where we can't help but see romantically and full of meaning. The highs. The lows. We feel it all. I cannot speak for all artists, but this pull is what gets me going back to art. Every single time. Every day, I yearn for the piano. For the pen. For the brush.

i think of art as a selfish pursuit. as an artist, your role is innately subjective yet the mark you leave on this world is inherently direct. some have claimed that art (and the analysis of it) is the only escape to the instant gratifications sold by modern day technology. but at its core, you're selling your subjective views for the common commodity of attention. so it's really not all that noble and glamorous. but in spite of that i think art matters. it's the curve you design onto a robot, the bold colors you assign to a brand, or the interactions you engineer into a website. and b/c of its impacts, i think art should be done intentionally and responsibly. though i'm struggling to define what that means.

The internal work matters just as much as the external work. Let me explain... A project we've been working on @NotionHQ is employee amplification – getting Notinos to post more on socials. X. LinkedIn. From the outside, a non-Notion employee sees the final output. A finished content piece. Nothing else. But a lot BTS is happening: How do we get more people to post, if they are not social-native? So... we have to play the hat of the "social media strategist." We make posting as frictionless as possible. We set up chats with each individual, hear their stories, set up affiliate accounts, brainstorm potential content pillars, spin up easy-to-follow guides/tips on getting them social-savvy, communicate w them to follow-up on posting. Etc. Etc. Etc. The work you see in public is just the tip of the iceberg. There's a lot happening underneath.

Joining a social team is like jumping aboard a rocket ship. - Being chronically online - Constantly tracking analytics - Engaging with socials around the clock - If not replying, posting like a madman Been really cool to observe + participate in.

BIG one for devs today. Introducing the Notion Developer Platform: - Notion CLI, ntn (Notion in your terminal) - Workers (run code on Notion's infra) - Database sync (any data source into Notion) - Agent tools (build any workflow) - Webhook triggers (trigger Notion from any app) - External Agents API (bring any agent into Notion) - Notion Agents SDK (use Notion Agents anywhere) - …and a bunch more API improvements And soon, you won't need to be a developer to build on Notion. Your agent will be one for you.
