Worth noting the Trump admin has succeeded in reducing the trade deficit vs GDP - US trade deficit for 2026 is tracking at 2.5% the lowest itโs been for a while-
Huge success to be able to reduce this to 2% by the end of the presidency?

One of the mistakes that I think Brad makes is thinking that you can see immediately results in 1-2 years. Plants and factories and manufacturing scale takes 5 years + to show up.
Manufacturing indices already hitting records but to think decades of foolish trade policy can be unwound in 1-2 years with immediate results is a pipe dream
I think very few of the academics actually take time to go meet business people on the ground who are actually In The process of reshoring or diversifying away from Chinese supply chains
