Update: Cybersecurity Incident There are multiple claims circulating regarding ATF’s recent acknowledgment of a cyber incident. While we continue to investigate in coordination with our law enforcement partners, I want to clarify that the system involved was the ATF CALEA system, a standalone system used by ATF in connection with the federal Communications Assistance for Law Enforcement Act (CALEA). For those unfamiliar with CALEA, it is a federal law that establishes requirements and processes related to how law enforcement agencies carry out certain authorized activities involving telecommunications and electronic communications. The CALEA system was standalone and separate from ATF’s other systems and networks. We will provide additional information as appropriate due to ongoing investigations. Thank you again.

It's completely FALSE. **More importantly - ATF respects the Court's ruling and the rule of law. #NIBIN# Win: A DoorDash driver was ambushed in Milwaukee on May 30 when an unknown individual fired into the driver’s car. Investigators recovered four 9 mm cartridge casings from the scene and entered them into NIBIN. About a month later, a stop involving an open intoxicant led officers to a convicted felon with a 9 mm pistol. A test-fire of the pistol generated a NIBIN lead linking the same firearm to the DoorDash shooting. When presented with a photo array, the DoorDash driver immediately identified the suspect. During questioning, the suspect admitted being at the scene. He was charged with first-degree recklessly endangering safety and being a felon in possession of a firearm. The director of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, made his first visit to Montana, touring firearms manufacturers across the state, including Kalispell’s McGowen Precision Barrels.

ATF is responding to a cybersecurity incident affecting a standalone system not connected to the ATF enterprise network, ATF eForms system, or any other ATF system. The system was quickly shut down when the breach was discovered. This is an ongoing investigation. Press release:

𝗙𝗔𝗖𝗧𝗦 𝗠𝗔𝗧𝗧𝗘𝗥. In FY2025, ATF’s National Tracing Center received 654,879 firearm trace requests from local, state and federal law enforcement, not one suppressor for $95,000. The claim that ATF spends $95,000 to trace one suppressor is based on fundamentally flawed math. The funding being cited in the video supports technology and infrastructure used to process hundreds of thousands of traces for more than 10,500 law-enforcement agencies. We should absolutely scrutinize government spending, but we should do it with accurate numbers. I’ll always be transparent about where ATF is spending taxpayer dollars. I’ll also gladly correct the record when the facts are wrong.
