Fuyang Maizhong Church in Anhui is a biblically orthodox Reformed church within the Presbyterian tradition. Pastor Zhang Sen, Pastor Chang Shun, and Elder Ma Tao were arrested by the Fuyang police on June 29, 2025, and have now been detained in the Fuyang Detention Center for more than ten months. They have been charged with the crime of “organizing illegal gatherings.” The grounds for these accusations include: Accepting invitations, as pastors, to attend and officiate weddings for fellow Christians. Going to the detention center in March 2024 to welcome home Christians who had been administratively detained because of their faith. Just last Thursday, on May 7, 2026, the Yingzhou District Court of Fuyang held a pretrial conference, and the case is expected to go to trial next month (June 2026).
