interesting
in some sense, NEAR could execute what ETH aspired to years ago
i.e., it scaled via sharding & is now acting as the hub between many chains
perhaps with a few tokenomics changes, you could bring back the programmable money dream

been thinking more on coherent messaging re: NEAR
let's ideate from first principles:
- the product of capitalism is markets
- capitalism -> markets -> competition -> specialization -> fragmentation
- within the specializations, there will be dominant leaders in each category
- SoV: gold, zec, btc
- trading: solana, hyperliquid, robinhood, binance
- currencies: usd, eur, gbp
- and on it goes: ai inference, private compute, real estate, international stocks, metals, e-commerce yada yada
- this requires connective tissue, which has been traditionally served via something like binance
- but one centralized company can not serve this need for infinite markets. there are too many handicaps, lack of network effects, and singular points of risk and stoppage. this is a rare case of decentralization being necessary. neutrality is non-negotiable for unstoppable global trade.
- now, you may see where I'm going and say: well Ethereum and Cosmos already tried this. but that's wrong. what they tried to do was structurally flawed
- those models required the succeeding nodes (L2s and L3s) to be from within the ecosystem, but that is incoherent since i) you can't force success, ii) if one were to succeed, they would just want to own the platform
- the other model is of course the Solana/Hyperliquid model of having everything concentrated on the L1. this model works. however this requires a high-degree of specialization to be competitive. you won't out nasdaq solana.
- but, NEAR does not need to do this. where there is concentration, there is also the need for connection.
- especially with their chain signature architecture, instead of forcing new internal nodes, they can just discover the successful ones and connect them to each other without ideology (see: NEAR intents supporting ZEC but also ZEC on Solana!)
- importantly, this is PvE and not zero sum. the more markets succeed, the more interesting NEAR becomes, i.e if Solana is one continent, and AI another, and Zcash another, then NEAR is the silk road.
so I think the coherent message for NEAR is:
the market of markets — the capital of capital

I'm not directly involved with near unlike zec & sol, but I've been consistent that it's obviously underrated given what it can do for a while
so it's satisfying to see a vibe shift around it
if they nail their gtm, decrease distractions, and increase focus, this could be fun

ct traders are a fascinating breed because they'd rather obsess about micro-timing an imaginary top/bottom to squeeze out a marginal 2.7%, while missing on the 1000%

Normal SPL transfers never put the mint in the list of account keys, so gRPC accountInclude filters never match it

ZEC is BTC but private, quantum resistant, and without Saylor and Dan Held.
Whenever the smartest people on the timeline have intellectual debates about an asset, you should be paying attention.
That’s happening with Zcash right now.
was trolled for leading zec listing on solana 1y ago
now it's the top 3 most traded asset on the chain along with several derivative uses in defi
not all things are zero sum. plan to also add a light client between zcash and solana to reduce trust assumptions

An idea is not a startup, and a business is not a startup either.
“With AI, you don’t necessarily need to spend a million dollars on hiring an engineering team first. You can just build a prototype. It doesn’t have to be good. It doesn’t have to be polished or anything.”
“A startup is a different thing. A startup is something that starts very small and gets very big.”

the biggest regret many early bitcoiners have is over trading. trying to catch 10% moves, using excessive leverage, shorting, buying the more volatile betas. on an asset that ultimately went 100, 1000, 10000x.
and it looks like a lot of ppl are making the same mistake with zcash.
zcash is not a trade. hold it. shield it. experience the magic of z-to-z transactions. and thank urself in a few years.

for zcash, privacy is often misunderstood as the end all be all
that certainly serves a clear market segment and is incredibly important
but I posit the more significant part of privacy is its role in enabling a better monetary asset
privacy enables choice, but more importantly it enables the safe haven and fungibility required for a true internet-native SoV
internet-money by default has historical information attached to it which means that one coin may not actually be fungible for another coin (i.e if the Canadian government determines your coins came from those supporting the truckers, they can come after you for years into the future)
i.e the money you receive shouldn't come with the baggage of those who held it before you
cash does not have this problem and is devoid of all information which enables true fungibility and higher liquidity in the limit, and so too must internet-native money have this property
even with gold and other offshore holdings, there's a reason people (used to) put them in Switzerland to take advantage of bank secrecy
but with Zcash, we now scale this to the entire planet. that's the point of tech: scale
now, all you need is an internet connection and a cryptographic keypair to get all these benefits that were only available to a select few
so, even if you're someone who doesn't need the privacy aspect of zcash, it's still foundational for enabling a better monetary asset along with quantum proofing and performance upgrades

Announcing our funding agreement with
@Ledger.
The agreement supports the work required to integrate the new Zcash Ironwood pool into Ledger devices.
As a result of this agreement, Zcash coin holders will be able to use their ledger devices to self-custody their Zcash in the latest Ironwood pool.
We are committing USD 80,000 toward this integration and are excited about the impact this will create for the Zcash coin holders.
