🚨 NEW: For a year, I've watched the growing campaign against AI data centers, from protests over water and electricity that include a sophisticated pro-China communist and socialist activist ecosystem mobilizing opposition across the country. Today, there's a new proposal aimed at changing that debate: "data center dividends" for the communities and their residents who have data centers as their neighbors. They could amount to as much as $8,900 a year per person. What do you think? A new report by the @BitcoinPolicy Institute proposes the idea of "data center dividends" that could push cash in the pockets of Americans. 🎥 Watch my interview with @SamLyman33, the head of resarch and a former senior advisor and speech writer to Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, as he explains the idea. The concept: instead of communities simply selling land for AI infrastructure, residents could receive annual payments, tax credits, utility bill credits or scholarship funds financed by the existing property tax revenue generated by the data centers, without raising taxes or increasing costs for developers. Researchers estimate a typical rural household could receive about $4,500 to $8,900 a year, with some communities potentially receiving even more. The idea is simple: if rural America is helping power the AI revolution, shouldn't rural Americans share directly in the economic gains? The X Safety team conducted an investigation into suspected Chinese inauthentic accounts involved in influence operations: We identified a bot farm of approximately 200,000 accounts. Within this farm, we found 200 accounts posting in a manner that could manipulate a legitimate debate about American AI and energy policy. These posts contained claims that AI data centers are driving up household electricity prices and straining the grid. Others included AI-generated cartoons that depicted data-center operators enriching themselves at the public's expense. We remain committed to maintaining an open and authentic platform where people debate topics of public interest. We take seriously any attempts to undermine the integrity of the global town square and suspend accounts that violate our Authenticity policy.

Today we're releasing a new national research survey with @Cygnal and Neighborhood Bitcoin on how Americans respond to Bitcoin messaging. Our findings: -> 94% of registered voters had heard of Bitcoin, and 61% wanted to know more about owning Bitcoin. Moreover -> 74% had little to no trust that the dollar would retain its value in the years ahead. -> The most persuasive messages are the ones that answer people's actual concerns. -> Messages about personal control and starting small, like "you decide how much, even if that's just $10," performed best. -> Messages built on industry framing performed worst. "Digital gold" confused focus group participants and ranked near the bottom of all 19 messages tested. -> The most trusted sources of Bitcoin information are not media figures or executives. Respondents said they would trust a financial advisor they have worked with (33%), a retirement planning expert (25%), or a friend or family member who owns Bitcoin (23%) ahead of any public figure. The messaging worked: After reading the tested messages, the share of respondents who said they were not interested in Bitcoin at all fell from 39% to 32%, and the share who were very or extremely interested rose from 19% to 24%.
