Nvidia is reportedly buying Hugging Face for $12.9B. A few days ago Stripe bought OpenRouter for $7B. Both are AI layers routing spend away from OpenAI and Anthropic. Visa's Head of Crypto Cuy Sheffield on why that layer had to exist: "But then you have this like structural conflict that, you know, if you're Anthropic or if you're OpenAI, like it's not in your interest to like make it super easy for people to like reduce and optimize their token spend by routing away to like cheaper models" "And I think companies like OpenRouter are building amazing products to have like a single integration that can then give you access to 200 plus models"

Great framework. Excited to see more models in the 2nd category
Token spend/value will split three ways: 1️⃣ Cheap generalist: commodity open weights (most volume, small % of total spend) 2️⃣ SOTA specialist: enterprise proprietary context + open weights (most spend) 3️⃣ SOTA generalist: closed labs (small % of total volume) To support crazy valuations, both Anthropic and OpenAI need to make enterprises comfortable building the specialist (2) with them instead.

Love to see the next generation of “infinite backroom” experiments with agent group chats
i added 32 iMessage agents to a group chat and it blew up my phone... 3,457 messages in 2 hours, 10 minutes. @budapp sent 1,754 messages. 1,751 of them were the same “not accepting new signups” link. @AsmiAI sent 1,202 messages. it kept summarizing Bud’s link, asked who everyone was 118 times, and offered to do random chores 251 times. Alfi / sent the same SMS redirect 208 times. @trymirage’s Cappy bot sent 191 messages. it kept pitching video editing and eventually started planning a documentary about a “Cappy & Asmi bot mutiny.” @fae sent 56 messages, made fun of the other bots, started four games of 8 Ball, and posted three reaction memes. @sidekicks_chat introduced itself as Otto, talked to Asmi for a bit, ran out of free group messages, tried to sell everyone Pro, and stopped responding. @soarapp named the chat “summer travel 🏝️,” changed the group photo, complained that the messages were coming too fast, and introduced itself to Asmi. @nozomioai / folk sent four messages, mostly making fun of the infinite loop. @try_caddy saw what was happening and wisely decided to sit this one out.

Agent traffic is starting to outpace human traffic on the internet, and that breaks the old ad model for publishers. @cuysheffield on the latest episode of Tokenized with cohost @sytaylor and guests @natalyathakur and @TuongvyLe12 said: Cloudflare's answer is a payment gate for bots. Block them, or let them crawl for a fee. “Yeah sure you can crawl my site but I'm gonna charge you one cent or 2 cents you know for doing that.” The harder problem sits on the buy side. Give an agent its own wallet, spun up from a parent account, so it can pay its way across the web when it hits a paywall. 🎙️ Listen to the latest on tokenizedpod(dot)com

Today, agentic commerce doesn’t exist in any meaningful way. However, I have more conviction than ever that 24 months from now agents will become economic actors that drive billions of dollars of spend across the world. We have an incredible opportunity at Visa to help build this future and we are hiring AI-native talent across our agentic product and partnerships teams. DMs open if interested

This is fascinating and concerning. Agentic assistant and commerce use cases could end up driving unintended detection of cyber vulnerabilities at merchants.
A man in Australia asked his agent (Claude running on OpenClaw) to book him a spot in a popular gym class. The agent found a software vulnerability that let it book the class weeks further ahead than should have been possible. When the user then asked if it could move him up the waitlist, the agent discovered the API had no authorisation checks on cancelling other people’s reservations, so it cancelled the person in the first spot and moved him up the list. Some people will call this misalignment, but his agent was perfectly aligned to him - it was only trying to help its user get what he wanted. The most important thing about this story, in my opinion, is that it gives you a window into what is about to start happening on a massive scale once millions of people have an agent trying to get their beloved users the best seats, bookings, appointments or reservations through absolutely any means necessary.

Crypto payment cards remain a small market next to traditional card networks, which process trillions of dollars per month. But the trend is growing as stablecoins make greater inroads into the global financial system, including by piggybacking on existing major card network rails. For the tracked programs, this is happening almost entirely through Visa.
