The last 11 months have been one of the greatest joys of my life. Traveling the state, meeting people in churches and dive bars and bike races and dance parties and in their homes, and hearing about what matters most to them informed every decision we made on the trail. It will continue to inform the work we do— and ask our supporters to do— moving forward.  This campaign was not about getting one person into office. It is about building a movement for permanent affordability and a government that puts working people first. Our movement is strong, and the work isn't done. I am overwhelmingly proud of our team and the work they have done to achieve that goal.  Congratulations to David Crowley and his team. I fully support him and look forward to working with him to defeat Congressman Tiffany in November.

Across the country, these primaries have been bitter but the winners and losers from across the ideological spectrum have been laser focused on winning in November This is the sign of a healthy party. Fight like hell in the primary and then unify for the general.

In the same way the left needed to be gracious winners in MI (and in MN!), so should the center & moderate crowd today. It does not serve your goals to be shitty, petty, or gloat! Unite & move forward for the general.

To those few loud people on this hellsite, claiming to be pro-Palestine but now performatively attacking Abdul El-Sayed for welcoming a much-needed endorsement from Kamala Harris (it’s a swing state, he only won half of the Dem primary vote and needs the other half to win the general, and he especially needs Black voters), and thereby increasing the chance of pro-Israel, pro-war Mike Rogers winning in November, I can only say this:

The message Platner (and El-Sayed) resisted to instead offer a Bernie-style critique of a corrupt system that ensnares both parties. But in ‘26 the job for any D in a competitive race is not complicated: win somewhere around 84-89% of Trump disapprovers & you win.

This 30-second clip is taken out of context. El-Sayed was talking about the Mackinac Policy Conference, an annual gathering of policy pros and insiders that he argues brings together well-connected and powerful people and shuts most voters out of politics.

Two different things are happening in Dem politics + they’re getting conflated. 1. Primary electorates look less + less like general electorate voters. They’re high-info voters in low-turnout races + they’re picking progressive candidates. AND… 2. Fighters who are angry at the establishment, sick of the status quo + coming to the table with big ideas are winning over voters regardless of how tuned in they are. ALL voters want this type of candidate.

If you went through ‘06 cycle, this year feels like déjà vu. In ‘06 at this point, W. Bush approve = 37%. Trump at 38%. Generic ballot in Sept. of ‘06: D+6.5, Generic Ballot now: D+6.5 In both years: Unpopular war, Members mired in sex scandals. (Sherwood, Foley then; Miller, Mills now).
