Two products I’ve genuinely appreciated this past year have been: • @maticrobots because the obvious dog fur everywhere in my apt • @ezCater because finding catering for a funeral was especially challenging in SF on a graduation weekend

Just got my @maticrobots and the experience out of the box has been truly delightful. Even did some live collision testing, thanks to our curious, precocious toddler. Kudos @mehul & team. Making robotics work in a messy unpredictable home is no easy feat. Matic is awesome!

One of the coolest parts of the Matic onboarding experience is watching it map its new world. Pretty mesmerizing seeing it capture where it's going to clean and learning all the nuances of your house!

Check out our story behind Matic Cues! Just tell us which room to clean or point at a mess, and we'll handle it!
It took us 9 years, 11 prototypes, and our life savings to learn that every great product has the same design process. Matic is now decisively the best home robot for families (I'm biased) A 500-word thread and video on the Universal Design Process behind every great product:

I think Live Activities on the @maticrobots vacuum is entirely underrated. Others should have this! Love it so much!
Nice. @bot 🤝 @maticrobots
OMG. I asked my Chief Engineer on Grok @bot to bring up the feature and it's done. 😳 I can text my @maticrobots now through my Grok @bot—anywhere and anytime.
Love our Matic. The most convenient and effective home robot just got even better!
I absolutely love my @maticrobots and recommend Matic to friends and family all the time. The product has such a bright future, and everyone I’ve interacted with on the Matic team has been incredibly friendly, helpful, and genuinely passionate about what they’re building. Coming from Eufy, the difference has been huge. I don’t miss constantly rescuing a robot that’s stuck or watching it bump into everything 😅 With Matic, I can start a run and actually trust it to do its thing without babysitting it, that peace of mind is probably my favorite part. My one frustration is an issue I’ve been dealing with since April: when mopping, the wheels lose traction and make a really loud squealing noise and spin in place. I’ve been working with support since then, and they’ve been super nice and responsive, I just really hope a fix is coming soon! I’d love to be able to run Matic overnight without hearing the squealing 😂 Still a huge Matic fan. ❤️ I’m excited to see where the team takes it!

I @maticrobots at the office, at home, and at the garage ! It’s the only way to be sure.
It’s a valid customer complaint to say that @maticrobots won’t get under furniture and clean in those areas. We hear you. But there’s also another customer complaint that we found was more important, that is robots are dumb and keep getting stuck or doing the wrong thing 🧵👇🏾

thx for the question Daniel. First, cleaning head is just 2.5” inches tall so it first under those things and gets o visible area easily. Second, have you ever wondered why 24 years after coming to market disc robots still chew wires and get stuck all the time..especially in this age of computer intelligence. it’s because a flat ant-like vantage means their vision similar to bug. It’s fundamentally limited. First roombas (w/o camera) were like wearing a blind fold around your eyes and then boucing from wall to wall to cover the room. They were flat because they would bum into everything. The Roomba with camera or disc bot with LIDAR (just a single pixel ones - so one laser) is like still having a blindfold on but now you have a hand out to catch the wall. However, if anything is above or beyond it doesnt see. Neither truely detect obstacles or even recognize or understand the context. That's why they can't see wires and get stuck. Matic is start of Robotics 2.0 vs. disc robots of Robotics 1.0. Matic's the first vision-only AI where robots literally the home the way we do in full 3D, photorealistic manner. It explores, maps, and localize in your home exactly the way you do and maps are dynamic so it constanly sees what's changed and updates the maps. This is possible because of its taller human child like vantage point. We talked to many users and felt that cleaning obviously accessible area thoroughly, effectively, w/o needing to babysit around obstacles was a far bigger use case for families with kids and pets than cleaning underneath the furniture. That can be taken care of once a month. So we built Matic to be as tall as a crawling human child so it can see top down. As a pet owner and father of 3 kids, our primary need wasn't under the furniture. That can be cleaned once a month as a deep clean. We wanted something that would clean day to day messes, hair of my golden retriever, cookie crumbs, kitchen, etc., constantly w/o needing supervision. We wanted something that would clean our thick shag rugs and go over them (which disc robots cannot). So we prioritized the needed for families like us. In addition, We wanted to solve problems that disc robots struggle with: ***Disc robots struggle with threadsholds or shag rugs or thick pile rugs -- for that big wheels of matic help. ***Actuated cleaning head adjusts to different thickness of the rugs and dynamically changes suction/brush roll speed to clean rugs that even manual vacuums cannot clean. ***Designed to deal with pet hair in a way tha it doesn't get clogged and don't have to flip the robot and cut hair - so easily acceessible brush roll. ***Cleaning head is littler over 2" tall so it can easily fit under space below kitchen cabines and visible dirt under the couches and furniture. Those don't get dirty as frequently as visible area. ***And one the things we cared about and have heard from any customers is that it doesn't scare pets and kids. ***as mentioned above, higher vantage point of cameras (instead ant-like vantage point of disc robots) allows us to see floors the same way we do at 45 degree angle -- this means it can truly see what obstacles are and abvoid it. No more wire chewing. ***In addition, just like the bottom of the cars get dirtier faster, flat robot sensors get dirtier much faster too, and then they make all kinds of mistakes. Higher camera position allows robot to see like humans at 45 degree angle to the floor and doesn’t get dirty ***deftly navigates around any surface/obstacles using visual intelligence ***quieter than dishwashers at 55dBA ***auto-toggles between vacuuming and mopping by recognizing floor types - outperforms any vacuuming and mopping robot (in our own homes and tests -- I have 3 kids and a golden retriever) ***Convenience of HEPA bags that keep the air clean and eliminate the hassle of changing filters ***private — keeps your data within 4 walls of your home with all edge device processing (no cloud at all).

real talk on robotics in this @mehul interview @netcapgirl and @sophiadew asked great questions!
FULL INTERVIEW: @maticrobots co-founder @mehul reveals how his team cracked the hardest problem in home robotics: mapping chaotic real homes to five-nines accuracy. He talks Silicon Valley origins, Elon Musk's approach to overpromising versus overdelivering, a live voice-command demo, and the wild story behind Roomba's $199 price tag. 1:38 Why 100+ self-driving startups existed but none building robots for homes 3:43 Achieving "five nines" of mapping accuracy 8:09 Live demo: Matic responds to "Hey, Matic, clean this" and points/gesture commands 10:57 The goal was always Rosie the Robot 16:47 The Las Vegas home with a fountain and fish tank that nearly broke the robot's mapping 18:05 The key difference between overpromising and overdelivering 22:09 The "march of nines" why the last 0.1% of robotics reliability takes years 25:47 Electrolux Trilobite's $1,500 failure vs. Roomba's $199 "permission from your partner" price point
