She used to think being a good woman meant being understanding all the time.
Understanding his mood. Understanding his mistakes. Understanding why he couldn’t treat her the way she deserved.
Then she realized nobody ever asked her to be understood.
So she stopped explaining herself.
She started saying no without feeling guilty. She stopped accepting disrespect just because she loved someone. She stopped worrying about being called difficult.
She finally understood that having standards doesn’t make a woman cold.
Choosing yourself doesn’t make you selfish.
And being independent doesn’t mean you don’t need anyone.
It simply means you know you’ll be okay, even when someone chooses to walk away.
To all the females out there, watch what males do when you say no. If they push back at all, remove them from your life. They are showing you that they have no respect for anothers boundaries. They are mentally pathological. Remove them from your interactions.
Millennials are turning into the exact same strict, out-of-touch parents that the Boomers were. The only difference is instead of yelling, you use therapeutic language to explain why your kid isn't allowed to eat sugar or watch TV.
