We integrated highly specialized optimizations for Zakura which are also useful in Tachyon, since Ironwood proof verification shares some of the same bottlenecks.
These optimizations speed up block and transaction propagation in Zcash today.

Building on several of our previous results, @zkDragon developed an extremely efficient ecFFT for the Pasta curves.
This alone speeds up the combined proving key + proof generation step in Zakura's cryptography stack by over 30%.

We adapted libsecp256k1's modular inversion to the Pasta curves and improved performance by 4.6x.

JUST IN: @ZakuraZcash has optimized the Sinsemilla hash function by more than 15x with no GPU acceleration, cutting sync and validation time for full nodes, miners and wallets.
We’ve optimized the Sinsemilla hash function by more than 15x, without GPU acceleration. (To be licensed under MIT / Apache 2.0.)

we changed upstream proving code dependency to @ZakuraZcash and hot/happy path transaction rather smooth now sending tx down to 3-4s
New Zakura Release: 1.2.0
We reduced block processing time by 87%. Valargroup's @evansforbes did an extensive analysis and then fixed a regression (inherited from upstream Zebra) which had been wasting nearly 5% of mining effort for over a month.

This release fixes some security issues being addressed in coordination with the Zebra 6.3.0 release. In addition, numerous performance and hardening improvements!

According to the ZIP process, network upgrades must be audited. @ValarGroup and Tachyon not only wrote most of the Ironwood/NU6.3 consensus changes, we're also the only ones who audited them.
