The Congress on Monday attacked PM Modi over rising prices, citing reports that electronic appliances such as LED TVs and washing machines are set to become costlier ahead of the festive season. The party said the impact of inflation is spreading beyond kitchen essentials and asked when the prime minister would address what it called the country’s most pressing concern. Congress general secretary in-charge communications Jairam Ramesh shared a screenshot of a media report which said several electronic items, including LED TVs and washing machines, are likely to become more expensive from October 1. According to the report, companies are preparing to raise prices by 5 to 10 per cent because of higher raw material costs, including copper and aluminium. $INTC REPORTEDLY PLANS ANOTHER 10% PC CPU PRICE HIKE IN OCTOBER The increase is aimed at improving gross margins rather than gaining market share, according to DIGITIMES, as global PC shipments are expected to fall to roughly 250M units in 2027. Intel is also reportedly considering discontinuing its low-margin Small Core lineup, which could create an opening for Qualcomm and MediaTek in industrial PC and IoT markets. The company may also cut another 5% to 10% of its workforce, with headcount currently around 75,000.

Suppliers have bluntly stated that "even if you have the money, you still may not be able to get the material" (lol). - Industry sources revealed that InP substrate prices began rising in Q4 last year and was the fourth consecutive substrate price hike. - The latest Q4 hike is expected to be >10%, - Meanwhile, prices for epitaxial wafers made from those substrates have already been raised two times, and the market is moving toward a 3rd consecutive increase in Q4.
