men saying they're "superior" because they're physically stronger (and often times only potentially) is so funny because physical strength isn't even what makes us "superior" to other animals, why would it matter within our own species? Especially when almost nothing we need on a day to day basis is dependent on exuberant physical strength?

Every single fucking day I wake up with a brain that won’t shut the fuck up, with BPD screaming one thing, anxiety spinning another, ADHD yanking me ten different fucking ways, PTSD making me jumpy as hell flinching at every little fucking thing, scared of shit most people wouldn’t even notice and depression whispering, “What’s the fucking point?” all before my fucking feet even hit the floor.

When I was a kid, all the kids would sleep in the basement on Christmas Eve to give space for Santa to drop off the presents. That night there was a lot of noise coming from outside on the street but we couldn't see anything because there was snow covering the egress windows. My mom came downstairs and told us to stay there. But soon we heard sirens and saw police lights reflecting in the snow. There was a lot of commotion that we couldn't see. Then my dad came downstairs with the very real Santa Claus. He told us that his sleigh crashed in the snow and that the kind police officers were helping him get unstuck and while they were working he was visiting the kids in the neighborhood. He pulled out a present for each of us and sat with my family while we opened them and sang a few Christmas songs. When things calmed down outside he went back to delivering toys. Years later I learned that there was a large gang fight outside of our house and that a few people died right outside. An older man from our church lived down the road and knowing my parents had undoubtedly scared children at home, put on his Santa suit and came over once the police arrived. Santa was a hero to me as a child, but that man is a hero to me now.

I put in PTO. It is declined. I tell my immediate supervisor. Hey I will have to call out on X day. They declined my PTO request. Can I schedule for a different day? No. That is why I put in for PTO. So I will make sure to call out and get that reference number...

My oldest sister(who was 20 at the time) is super petite. She really looks like she’s still in high school. She was driving herself home late at night from rehearsal. She realized she needed gas. She pulled into a gas station and only half the outside lights were working. There were two men hanging out in the shadows.When she noticed the men, she double checked the mileage left in the gas tank and decided she absolutely could make it all the way home, and fill up her car in the morning. So that’s what she did. I applauded her for listening to her intuition and staying safe. When I told my older brother the story, he poo pooed the entire experience and said 98% of people are not trying to make trouble. I told him to ask every female he knows. And 100% of them would’ve done the same thing.
