War is tragic. Americans should always pray for peace. But even as we do so, we must always prepare for war by developing the best technology first. Because if we don’t, we will inherit exactly the world that critics of AI weaponry rightly fear — one where dictators wage war on their terms, using technology divorced from human judgment. (4/4)

The debate around the ethics of an AI arms race is an important one — too important to leave only for critics and abstract skepticism. And whether the United States and our allies choose to build autonomous weaponry or not, it’s a sure bet that our adversaries will.
