AI is not buying rare books in bulk, slicing off their spines, feeding their pages through scanners, or throwing them in the trash. AI does not have hands. The PEOPLE running AI companies are doing this. They’re buying these books and ordering them destroyed.

@OrevaZSN No, copyright law requires scanned book to be discarded. Stop spreading lies. Millions of books go into landfills every year without being preserved in digital format.

As someone who worked for years at a used bookstore, I think a lot of people don't realize how many books currently end up in the garbage.
This is what happens to rare books at a library near you.
Would they really be worse off if they were scanned before being thrown away?
