As a father of 3 kids, one of the first things I checked when I got into the Cybercab was whether it had ISOFIX and a top-tether anchor. There’s no ISOFIX, but there is a top-tether anchor mounted on the rear wall of the cabin, rather than on the back of the seat. So, in the future, we should be able to install a regular car seat using the seat belt and the top tether. $TSLA @robotaxi

$TSLA 🇰🇷 BREAKING : I just experienced FSD (Supervised) for the first time in Korea. The vehicle is Model X and the FSD version is *V14.1.4. We have yet to see any official cases of V14 being applied outside of the United States and Canada. I've just completed my first FSD run for about an hour. (I've experienced about 10,000km of FSD in the U.S.) Except for the parking lot, there was never a case where I intervened during the FSD drive. The first impression of the FSD that works in Korea is that it is very amazing and a great achievement of the Tesla AI team. Although there was one case where I went off the road without following the navigation, the FSD thought to itself and drove on the right path. The overall experience in Korea was very good, such as turning left, turning right, U turn, joining lanes, and changing lanes. It's kind of like... an American driver driving in Korea on an international driver's license. If more data is generated in the future and the number of users increases, higher achievement of FSD in Korea is very much expected. I can't wait for more people to experience FSD in Korea! (Tesla Korea is a HW4 vehicle that purchased FSD and will update the FSD (Supervised) in the future for vehicles suitable for VIN number 5or7.

My prediction on the Cybercab FMVSS situation: Back in February, Lars Moravy was asked by Farzad whether Tesla would apply for the 2,500-vehicle FMVSS exemption. His answer was simply: “No.” After that, speculation spread that Tesla would skip the exemption entirely and instead self-certify the Cybercab as FMVSS compliant. The two approaches are fundamentally incompatible. Applying for the exemption is essentially admitting that the vehicle cannot be certified under the existing FMVSS rules. Later, people noticed an FMVSS certification label on the Cybercab displayed in Tesla’s booth, making this theory seem all but confirmed. However, when Cybercab test vehicles began appearing on public roads, they all carried manufacturer plates. That raised doubts about whether Tesla would actually follow through with self-certification. Today, we saw the first Cybercab with a regular Texas license plate. That means Tesla has completed the necessary steps to self-certify the vehicle. It can now be legally sold to customers and deployed in the Robotaxi fleet to transport paying passengers. But this isn’t the end of the story. Current FMVSS regulations still require pedals and rearview mirrors, and the Cybercab has neither. Strictly speaking, that would seem to make FMVSS self-certification impossible. The key issue is that the Cybercab is something the regulations never anticipated: a vehicle with no human driver. FMVSS was written for vehicles operated by drivers. That leaves room for Tesla to argue from a broader, common-sense interpretation of the regulations. In other words: “Why would a vehicle with no driver need pedals or rearview mirrors?” I believe that’s the argument Tesla is prepared to make. After the Cybercab launches, NHTSA could review Tesla’s self-certification and determine that it was inappropriate. If that happens, the agency could order recalls, impose fines, or require corrective actions. By then, however, Cybercab production could already be ramping rapidly, and FMVSS revisions for autonomous vehicles may be close to completion. From Tesla’s perspective, it may be financially and strategically better to move forward now and deal with any regulatory challenges if they arise, rather than wait for the entire FMVSS framework to be updated. Another factor is that the current administration appears to be relatively supportive of Elon Musk and Tesla, which could also work in Tesla’s favor. That said, I think Tesla is well aware of the regulatory risk. My guess is that they’ll increase Cybercab production cautiously until the FMVSS revisions are officially finalized. That’s my view on the Cybercab FMVSS situation.

What this means: • Tesla has self-certified the Cybercab as FMVSS-compliant. • It’s not one of the 2,500 exempt test vehicles. • It can legally be sold to customers. • Most importantly, it can join the Robotaxi fleet and start paid rides! @Robotaxi $TSLA

Chicago has Cybercabs again! The engineering validation matte models with the plates 6EY-042 and 6EY-042 went missing in early May. Now there at two glossy production models with the cybertruck steering wheel on the North Side of Chicago that join the Model Y with rear camera washer fleet of about 20-30 vehicles. After I took my photos/video from the sidewalk, the cabs were moved from the lot. Both cabs didn’t have license plates or @robotaxi decals.

Caught on Tesla dashcam today (July 6) around 5:18pm in the Lower East Side. She walked straight up to my parked white Tesla at 171 E Broadway, tore the plate straight off, then casually walked away… and later strolled right back past the spot like nothing happened.
