A decade ago, @Apple was the most valuable company in the world, and at $600B, it was still worth well less than $1T. I remember thinking no company would ever eclipse $1T. But Apple first crossed the trillion-dollar threshold in 2018, and it was a small group for awhile. Now it's climbed to 12 tech companies in this club. And more are coming as the frontier labs get ready to go public. The ceiling on what a technology company can be worth has continued to increase. Today, @Nvidia tops the list at approximately $5.3T, with @Apple and @Google not too far behind. When will the first company hit $10T? Which company will get there first? Will we see a $20T company a decade from now in 2036? With AI growing so rapidly in a seemingly enormous market, these milestones no longer seem improbable to me.

I firmly believe capital is not a competitive advantage. Almost every founder, VC & LP I talk to right now believes something closer to the opposite. More capital = signal of a better company, a better investment, a better return. AI genuinely is creating the need for more capital in a lot of cases, so I understand where it comes from. But companies that do more with less capital outperform. They have in the past, and that'll continue. Spoke to @TFR_Pod about this, hot off the heels of the Airtable news. Check it out:

Great catching up with @burkaygur and @gorkem at the @fal office today! @dan_cahana and I loved getting the update and super excited for next week’s board meeting. I snapped a photo of you guys today - thanks for the witches brew and the flying unicorn around the new office is a great design choice!

I talk about the full story of our Anthropic Series E investment on @TFR_pod, you can check it out here:
Oh, and the deal closed the same week as the first DeepSeek moment. We got grilled by several of our LPs, and many thought we were crazy. I’ll admit there were some sleepless nights, but we had immense conviction in the team, particularly when Krishna Rao, who doesn’t get as much of the spotlight (as he’d prefer it), joined as CFO. We knew Krishna from way back from his days running corp dev at Airbnb, and when he joined, we gained significant conviction that Anthropic’s burgeoning capital needs would be met smartly.

We started looking hard at the @AnthropicAI Series E in late 2024 at @notablecap, and our capital went into the round in early ‘25. At a $61.5 billion post-money valuation, it was, by more than an order of magnitude, the highest price I'd ever paid for a venture investment. It seems like an obvious call in retrospect, but at the time the gross margins were much lower than they are now, the cost of training models was very high, and, even if Anthropic was able to attract enough capital, it was still in question whether they could catch up to OpenAI.

In our team meetings each week, my colleagues @hanstung and @chelcietay regularly announce eye-popping growth statistics for @WisprFlow. They’ve grown more than 150% quarter over quarter for the last year and are showing no signs of slowing down. I’m an avid Wispr Flow user, and it’s the best AI consumer product I’ve ever used. Thrilled that @notablecap is continuing to back @tankots and @SahajGarg6!

We're excited to continue backing @tankots, @sahajgarg6 & the entire @WisprFlow team in today’s $280M Series B, valuing the company at $2B. @hanstung wrote about the astronomical growth over the last year and the keyboardless future that's getting closer.

In my 30-year investing career, I’ve never seen the market underestimate a growth curve the way it’s underestimating AI token generation. Late last year, Dell put out an estimate that inference would run about one quadrillion tokens a month by the end of 2028. Their current estimate for the same date is 57 quadrillion. That’s a roughly 57x change inside a single year! And Goldman Sachs has since published projections that sit an order of magnitude above Dell's revised number.

On the SaaStr stage 8 years ago, I asked @mitchellh & @armon what they'd do differently building @HashiCorp. They said they wished they'd brought in a seasoned exec team 6 months earlier than they did. I've repeated this advice many times since. An exec search can stretch quarters, don't let the clock start when you're already feeling the pain.

Congrats @anandnk24 , @rebeccatqian and the entire @PatronusAI team on hiring the ultimate (fruit) ninja, Duncan Curtis as SVP Product and Operations! A great team just got even better!
We just hired the creator of Fruit Ninja and Jetpack Joyride. Excited to share that Duncan Curtis is joining us as SVP of Product and Operations at @PatronusAI. Previously, Duncan was Head of Product at Zoox, SVP at Sama, and Product Lead at Google Play. He’s also the one to blame if you lost time playing Fruit Ninja back in the day… Designing LLM post-training data is oddly similar to designing games. A great game has simple rules, but creates a huge space of possible strategies. It has to be challenging without being impossible, and the challenge has to actually reveal skill. You can tell the difference between someone who has memorized a trick and someone who has actually mastered the system. Great RL tasks work the same way. You’re designing a simulation world with rules, tools, and feedback, and you’re testing whether agents can complete tasks through good decision making and NOT reward hacking. As models get better, I think agent task design will increasingly look like game design... the same principles that make games compelling can make RL envs powerful.

Is the developer still the kingmaker? Back in 2020, I wrote that software developers had become the modern-day kingmakers. Every company was becoming a software company, and the people choosing the tools were the people writing the code. The job has massively changed shape since then. Look at what @browserbase shipped this week with Stagehand v4, built around what an agent needs from a browser rather than what a human writing a test needs. Developers still choose the tools. But the old eval model has been upended. Most product and company positioning I see hasn't caught up with this shift. @pk_iv puts on a masterclass here.

Follow the developer. That’s been my strategy for as long as I’ve been an investor. Every company has been getting more digital for over a decade, which keeps moving developers closer to the center of how value gets created. That's what led me to @mitchellh & @armon at @HashiCorp, to @rauchg at @vercel, to @nikitabase at @neondatabase, and more recently to @fal, @browserbase & @superlogical. The question I get now is whether the importance of the developer recedes as agents write most of the code. I actually think developers become even more central to value creation in an increasingly AI agent-driven world. There’s more you can build with software than at any point in history, and the surface area for a developer tool has vastly expanded. You’re empowering the developer, as well as that developer’s agents.

The velocity of innovation coming out of @browserbase is breathtaking - congrats @pk_iv and team on @stagehanddev v4! Built for your agent!
Introducing Stagehand v4: the SDK for browser agents. Playwright was built for testing, we built Stagehand for your agent: with improved context management, self-healing actions, and iframe support.

FDE keeps coming up in conversations with founders right now, and the question is often the same: what is this function, actually? Pauline Brunet has built versions of it at Element AI, and now @cursor_ai. The @NotableCap team sat down with her to get into how she defines the role, who she hires, and how she structures FDE engagements.

FDE is the job title of the moment, and no one seems to agree on what it means. @cursor_ai's Head of FDE, Pauline Brunet, has built FDE teams across 3 companies. Here's what she's learned about the role and who she's actually hiring to do the job.

Huge news and so excited for @mitchellh and the mighty @superlogical team! We at @notablecap are incredibly excited to partner with you on your journey! LFG!
I've started a new company: @superlogical! We're going to begin by building a terminal multiplexer. The entire vision is much larger, but the multiplexer is the foundation. Sign up for the newsletter to get beta access and devlogs (product updates only I promise).

Some of the best founders and operators I've had the privilege of backing spent time with this year's Notable NextGen Fellows, including @pk_iv of @Browserbase & @tomocchino & Kim Neuwirth of @Vercel. Watching them pass down what they've learned to 27 students who are already building, several of them running companies full-time, is one of the more energizing parts of this job. The line between student and founder keeps getting thinner every year, and it’s been incredible to see the NextGen program evolve to serve these impressive builders. Congratulations to the entire 2026 class.
